Spotlight curates ideas and experiments worth collecting. Every two weeks, the Forefront community curates a new capsule in an effort to highlight great work and support creators publishing onchain.
CAPSULE 002: We believe that blockchains unlock entirely new design spaces for media and community. Being “onchain” is a superpower in and of itself. This capsule contains some key landmark moments and onchain media experiments, highlighting some of the opportunities ahead of us for tokenized communities and content.
These are ideas and experiments worth collecting. Collect to support creators publishing onchain.
Songcamp has pioneered experiments in Music NFTs and onchain artist collaboration. Chaos Packs are the product of Camp Chaos, a landmark experiment in creative collaboration and onchain splits. These packs will be legendary as the ecosystem grows.
Media NFTs don’t need to be content themselves. The White Rabbit Key was a governance token used to influence the production of the White Rabbit movie, a cool experiment in community-created content.
This token was not only a collaboration with a notable Punk holder, but was also one of the first multichain NFTs, opening the gates for more interoperability amongst collections and collectors.
Zora Zine has become one of the premier crypto-cultural publications, and their physical Zine was a landmark moment for the scene. You can collect the NFT and receive a physical edition.
Writing NFTs shouldn’t point to a picture, they should point to the writing. This essay marks the first experiment with creating an NFT of an essay itself by embedding an iFrame into the token metadata, making it readable in various wallet apps across web3.
Fortune Magazine’s second NFT drop ever was its own magazine cover, marking the first major magazine to mint its cover as an NFT.
The content of this talk is incredible in and of itself, but its release was also special. One of the first collections to use a custom Zora mint page, the duo minted the video recording of their talk to mark a moment in time and garner support around the idea of a “Creative Director for Mars.”
Content NFTs were a thing pre-Bankless, but this was the first big Podcast NFT mint. Bankless shifting their business model toward tokenized media was a big step forward, and paved the way for other organizations with large existing audiences.
Nounish is doing incredible work in creating content for the Nouns ecosystem, especially their explainer videos. This NFT was minted by the DAO, amongst the first of Nouns DAO’s drops, and highlights some of the best content to come out of the ecosystem thus far.
Zora’s Zorb has been remixed in countless ways, but the Infinite Zorb was one of the first attempts at a piece of onchain art changing every minute.
Forefront is the home of Tokenized Communities, and our 2022 Year in Review was the only piece of content that captured the developments of the space from beginning to today, highlighting major pieces of media, events, communities, and more.
